Dr. Alexander Apostolov
Ph.D. from the Technical University in Sofia, Bulgaria. He is presently Principal Engineer for OMICRON electronics in Los Angeles, CA. He is IEEE Fellow and Member of the Power Systems Relaying Committee and Substations C0 Subcommittee. He is the past Chairman of the Relay Communications Subcommittee, serves on multiple IEEE PES Working Groups and is Chairman of Working Group.
 
D21: Investigate Supporting of IEC Standard for Distance Relay Characteristics. Dr. Apostolov has been actively involved for more than 10 years in the development of UCA 2 and IEC 61850. He is member of IEC TC57 Working Groups 10, 17, 18 and 19. He is Chairman of the Technical Publications Subcommittee of the UCA International Users Group. He is member of CIGRE and works on several CIGRE working groups. He is Convener of working group B5.27 Standard Protection Schemes. He holds four patents and has authored and presented more than 300 technical papers. Dr. Apostolov is also the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the PAC World magazine - the global forum of the protection, automation and control industry.

He is the author of the first book titled “Disturbance Analysis for Power Systems” that was published by Wiley on October 10, 2011, documenting his over 40 years of experience in the protection and control and system disturbance analysis areas. He was nominated as a Fellow in the IEEE in 2000 for his contribution to the Protection and Control field. He was a member of one of the early research teams in computer relaying.
He retired as the Director of the system Protection and Control Engineering Section at the end of 2004. From 2004 to present, he lectured protection and control related courses to utility engineers in the USA and oversees. In 2006 he founded MOH Electric, Inc. where he is the president. He is the author and co - author of twenty – five (25) technical papers in the computer relaying and protection areas. He received several awards and recognition for his papers and research work.

Dra. Solveig Ward

Dra. Solveig Ward
Solveig ward is a Senior member of IEEE and Chairman of its System Protection Subcommittee. She is very active in Working Groups and initiated and chaired groups producing reports for Cyber Security and for Redundancy. Solveig received an IEEE award in 2011 for PES Working Group Recognition Award - Outstanding Technical Report for "Redundancy Considerations for Protective Relaying."She also received an IEEE PES Prize Paper Award in 2011 as a co-author of "Performance of Relaying during Wide-Area Stressed Conditions."
Solveig has authored over 20 papers presented at domestic and international relay and communications conferences. Several of them have also been published as magazine articles. She is co-author of three transaction papers, co-editor of one book and holds one patent in the relay protection field. Solveig Ward, MSEE, IEEE Fellow, Principal Advisor, Protection, Automation and Testing, has more than 37 years of experience in design and applications of Protective Relaying and Communications. She holds one patent in the protective relaying field.

Dr. Jaime de la Ree

De La Ree Lopez received his bachelor’s degree from Monterrey Tech, in Mexico, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
Jaime De La Ree Lopez of Blacksburg, associate professor and assistant department head of the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech.
